How do you determine who approves a payment request automatically based on the selected cost center?

In Jestor, when a new payment request is created, the selected cost center already automatically determines who is responsible for approving that request, routing it to the correct approval queue.

How this approval rule works

On the new-request form, one of the fields filled in is the cost center — for example, a specific department like IT. That field doesn't just categorize the expense: it also defines the approval hierarchy, meaning which person is responsible for receiving and approving that request within Jestor before it's sent to Omie.

How to create a payment request

  1. Click "new request" and fill in the title, description, and amount.
  2. Select the cost center — this choice determines who will approve the request.
  3. Fill in the remaining fields, such as company, category, vendor, and expected and due dates.
  4. Submit the request, which stays in queue until approved by the responsible person for that cost center.

Why choose Jestor

  • Automatic approval hierarchy: no need to manually assign who approves each payment.
  • Direct integration with Omie: approvals turn into payables automatically, with no double entry.
  • Tracking dashboard: shows pending, approved, and rejected requests by cost center.

Can more than one cost center share the same approver?

Yes, the approval-hierarchy logic is configurable and can group different cost centers under the same responsible person.

Is the request sent to Omie automatically as soon as it's created?

No. It's only posted to Omie after being approved by the person responsible for that cost center.

Can you see the total amount approved by cost center?

Yes, the app's dashboard shows tracking of the amount approved by cost center.
