How Can I Handle Delivery App Orders and In-House Orders Together?
You handle them together by sending all orders, from delivery apps, phone, WhatsApp, and the dining room, into one queue with a source tag, so the kitchen sees a single list in priority order. On Jestor, this runs through an orders table with a shared status flow.
Delivery apps often run on their own tablets, and phone orders are written on paper. The kitchen ends up checking several screens, and a rush on one channel hides orders from another.
What separate order channels cost
- Orders missed on one of several tablets
- Wrong priority when channels are not seen together
- Mistakes in transcribing phone orders
- No single view of how busy the kitchen really is
How a combined order queue works
- Every order is a record tagged with its source
- Status moves from received to preparing to ready
- The kitchen sees all orders in one list sorted by time
- Source tags allow reporting by channel
Why Jestor fits this use case
- One list prevents orders from being overlooked
- Priority is based on time, not the loudest channel
- Channel data helps compare profitability by source
- This scales from a small restaurant to a high-volume kitchen
