How Do I Track Disposal and Recycling of Old Equipment?
You track disposal by recording each item removed from a customer site, with type, quantity, and condition, and by following it to its destination, such as a recycling partner or a disposal facility, with the certificate stored on the job record. On Jestor, this runs through Forms, a removed items table, and Docs.
Replacing equipment usually means removing the old unit. Where it goes matters for the environment, for regulations, and for the company's reputation, yet records are often missing or kept only on paper.
What untracked disposal costs
- Old equipment stored in warehouses with no plan
- Missing certificates when a customer or authority asks
- Valuable materials not recovered or sold
- Risk of improper disposal and reputational damage
- Time lost trying to remember where items went
How disposal tracking works
- Each removed item is a record with type, quantity, and job
- Status moves from collected to stored to delivered
- Destination and certificates attach to the record
- A dashboard shows volumes by type and destination
Why Jestor fits this use case
- A clear trail shows responsible handling
- Certificates are available when needed
- Recovered materials can be tracked and sold
- This scales from occasional removals to large replacement programs
