To **limit which users appear in a field**, you select the specific people relevant to that process instead of listing everyone. On an account with hundreds of users, this is the difference between a usable field and an unusable one.

## Why showing everyone breaks the field

The default of listing every user works at ten people and fails at two hundred.

- Scrolling through the whole company to find one colleague
- Wrong assignments caused by similar names
- Processes exposing the full employee list unnecessarily
- Slow selection on a field used dozens of times a day

## Two settings worth knowing

| Setting | Effect |
| -------------------- | ------------------------------------------------------ |
| **All users** | The default — everyone in the account appears |
| **Selected users** | Only the people you choose are listed |
| **Single user only** | Forces one owner; selecting another replaces the first |

## How to configure it in Jestor

1. Open the multiple-users field settings in **Jestor**.
2. Note that all users is enabled by default.
3. Turn it off to choose which specific people should appear.
4. Select the relevant people — the sales team on a **CRM**, for example.
5. Enable the single-user option where a record should have exactly one owner.

## Why choose Jestor for field-level control?

Switching a field to single-user in **Jestor** changes selection behaviour rather than just validating it: choosing a second person replaces the first, instead of allowing two and rejecting the save.

That also matters for boards, since a **Kanban** driven by a user field requires a single user — a card can only sit in one column.

## Frequently Asked Questions

### Are all users shown by default?

Yes, so you need to turn that off to restrict the list. See [jestor.com](https://jestor.com/?ref=blog.jestor.com).

### What happens if I switch to single user?

Selecting someone new replaces the previous selection.

### Why does this matter for boards?

A Kanban by user needs a single-user field.
